⚠ Prior use notice Some beats may have appeared in previous releases or been used by other artists before your purchase. Buying the exclusive means the beat stops being sold from that point forward — it's yours going forward. Existing releases containing the beat (mixtapes, singles, etc.) are not affected and will not be taken down. This is standard industry practice.

Producer credit required on all licenses: "(Prod. mugencooks)" in track title and @mugencooks tagged on all social posts. For collaborative beats, credit will reflect all producers involved. PRO registration (BMI/ASCAP) only permitted with Exclusive License. Buyer is responsible for clearing any samples contained in the beat.

What equipment do you use?+
DAW & Recording: FL Studio 21, Pro-Tools

Microphone: Rode NT-1

Audio Interface: Universal Audio Apollo Twin

Mixer: Tascam Model 12

All equipment is professional-grade and maintained to the highest standards for superior sound quality.
How do I book a session?+
Sessions are booked through our online calendar on this site. Simply select your preferred date and time, fill in your project details, and complete your booking. Sessions are confirmed once your 25% deposit is received.
What's the deposit policy?+
A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your session. This deposit is deducted from your total session cost. Full payment is required before final tracks are delivered.
What's your cancellation policy?+
Please provide at least 12 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 12 hours' notice may result in the loss of your deposit or a cancellation fee.
What if I'm late for my session?+
Your session time starts at your scheduled time, not your arrival time. A grace period of 15 minutes is provided at no charge. After 15 minutes, your session clock is still running and time will be deducted from your booked hours. If you arrive more than 30 minutes late without notice, the session may be forfeited and your deposit will not be refunded. If you know you're running late, contact us as soon as possible — we'll do our best to accommodate when we can.
How long are sessions?+
Sessions are booked in 2-hour blocks. If you need additional time, we'll do our best to accommodate based on availability. Extra time may incur additional charges.
Can I bring guests to my session?+
Please limit guests to those involved in the creative process or recording itself. If you have special requests for additional space, let us know in advance and we'll discuss accommodations.
What should I bring to my session?+
Come prepared with all necessary materials including songs, lyrics, sheet music, backing tracks, and reference materials. This maximizes your session time and ensures a productive experience.
Can I bring my own equipment?+
Yes, you're welcome to bring your own instruments or gear. Please ensure everything is in working order before your session. We're not responsible for loss or damage to personal equipment.
Is there a smoking policy?+
There is no smoking inside the studio. If needed, please smoke before arriving or use the backyard. Smoking during the session still counts towards your session time.
Can I eat or drink in the studio?+
Food and drinks are allowed in designated areas only. Please keep them away from equipment and dispose of trash properly. Help us keep the studio clean!
What happens if I damage equipment?+
You are responsible for any damage caused to studio equipment or property during your session. Repairs or replacement costs will be assessed and billed accordingly. Please handle all equipment with care.
Can you share my recordings on social media?+
We ask for your permission before sharing any content from your session on social media. We respect your privacy and won't share without your consent. Let us know if you'd like us to document your session.
What if I'm feeling sick?+
If you're feeling unwell or have health concerns, please let us know in advance. If you or your group shows signs of illness, we may ask to reschedule for everyone's safety and comfort.

Beat Licensing — Answered

Everything you need to know before you buy.

What's the difference between the license tiers?+
Basic MP3 ($20–30) — MP3 file only. For demos, mixtapes, and non-monetized use. Up to 50,000 streams.

WAV ($35–50) — High-quality WAV file. For commercial releases, monetized platforms, and radio. Up to 150,000 streams.

WAV + Stems ($60–90) — WAV plus all individual track stems (drums, melody, bass, etc.) for full mixing control. Up to 500,000 streams.

Exclusive (from $200) — Full ownership transfer. Beat is removed from the store, no one else can purchase it. Unlimited streams and usage. Contact to negotiate.
Can I use a leased beat on Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube?+
Yes — all lease tiers cover monetized streaming platforms. The Basic MP3 license covers up to 50K streams, WAV up to 150K, and WAV+Stems up to 500K. If you blow past those numbers, you'll need to upgrade your license or go exclusive. Content ID claims are not filed on leased beats so you won't get flagged.
Can I upgrade my license later?+
Yes. If you started with a Basic or WAV lease and want to upgrade — or eventually go exclusive — reach out directly. The price difference will be factored in. As long as the exclusive hasn't been sold yet, it's available.
What does "Exclusive Sold" mean on a beat?+
It means someone purchased the exclusive rights to that beat. The exclusive license is no longer available for that track. The beat is kept in the store for reference but cannot be previewed or purchased. If you were eyeing a beat that just sold exclusive, reach out — similar beats can be created custom for you.
Do I need to credit Mugencooks / Crackle & Dust?+
Yes, for all lease tiers. Credit the producer as "Prod. Mugencooks" in your track title, description, and anywhere you'd normally list production credits. Exclusive buyers are not required to credit but it's always appreciated.
Can I use a beat for a music video?+
Yes. All lease tiers include music video rights for platforms like YouTube and Instagram. For broadcast TV or film sync, you'll need the exclusive license or a custom sync deal — contact us to discuss.
What are free beats — what's the catch?+
No catch. Free beats are available as lease-only downloads — Basic MP3 license terms apply. The exclusive rights to those beats are not available for purchase. Some free beats require an email to download, which adds you to the Crackle & Dust mailing list for new releases and updates.
I bought a beat — now what?+
After checkout on Gumroad you'll receive a download link and a license agreement via email. Save both. When releasing your song, credit the producer, stay within your stream limits, and reach out if anything comes up. That's it — you're good to go.
